A greater part of the future will be shaped by technology, and Southern Oregon has a role to play. As the near geographic center point from Portland, San Jose, and Silicon Valley we are well-positioned, especially with I-5 and the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport.
We are primed for technology and innovation in Southern Oregon. Through investments in STEAM from fourth grade through 12th grade and programs at RCC, SOU and OIT, we have an excellent pool of talent. Many of the top 25 global technologies are represented in our area, even if on a smaller scale.
If our local STEAM talent leaves due to a lack of opportunities, this hurts Southern Oregon’s economy. That’s why the innovation center will offer programs to individuals during key phases of life and career.
Our goal is to encourage, inspire, and help our youth embrace innovation and technology, so they can advance their careers, and even start new businesses. Incubators, resources, and tools to kick-start disruptive technologies can help our local talent thrive. In turn, this will continue to stimulate the development of new and exciting businesses for many generations to come in our community!
